Overview

Take Ownership of KYC, AML, and customer due diligence (CDD) processes — from onboarding to offboarding — ensuring every approval, risk check, review, and escalation is accurate, compliant, and user-friendly. Verify the identity of every user, swiftly detect suspicious activities, and block bad actors with robust, risk-based processes. Maintain full compliance with the EU’s Anti-Money Laundering Directives, Dutch financial regulations, and bunq’s internal risk appetite framework. Partner with Product, Compliance, and Risk teams to design seamless flows that balance customer experience with regulatory obligations. Continuously improve controls through automation, AI, and data-driven insights to reduce manual work and scale efficiently. Strategic translation into execution – translate bunq’s vision into high-impact operational processes, systems, and priorities that drive execution. Proven leadership in scaling ops teams in fast-paced environments with a high bar for ownership, speed, and quality. An AI-native mindset – identify opportunities to apply intelligent automation, using AI to unlock scale, reduce manual effort, increase compliance accuracy and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of KYC, AML, and CDD processes from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring approvals, risk checks, reviews, and escalations are accurate, compliant, and user-friendly.
• Verify user identities, detect suspicious activities, and block bad actors using robust, risk-based processes.
• Maintain compliance with EU AML Directives, Dutch regulations, and bunq’s risk appetite framework.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Risk teams to design flows balancing customer experience and regulatory obligations.
• Drive automation, AI, and data-driven improvements to reduce manual work and scale operations.
• Translate bunq’s vision into executable operational processes, systems, and priorities.
• Provide proven leadership in building and scaling high-performing ops teams in fast-paced environments.
• Apply an AI-native approach to identify opportunities for intelligent automation that enhances compliance and customer experience.
