Senior AI Engineer (with a Software Development Background) – Altura

Location: Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

What you will do

• Build and iterate on RAG pipelines, agents, and LLM-based workflows.
• Prototype with frameworks like LangChain, OpenAI function calling, or what tomorrow’s standard will be.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to move from a scrappy prototype to production features.
• Own experiments end-to-end: from idea to POC to deployed feature to learnings.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability while enabling rapid experimentation.
• Contribute to the growing AI platform foundation inside Altura.

You have

• Proven software engineering experience in SaaS with strong Python skills (bonus: .NET or full-stack).
• Solid understanding of modern LLM applications (RAG, embeddings, vector DBs, agents).
• Experience evaluating and testing LLM applications.
• Experience with cloud-based ML/AI workflows (Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, or similar).
• Familiarity with tools like Pinecone, Langfuse, or open-source alternatives.
• A hacker’s mindset: you love to try, break, fix, and ship.
• Curiosity about the latest in AI and the drive to apply it to real business problems.
