The central Data Architecture team sits at the heart of the business, delivering end‑to‑end data lifecycles and strategic data direction. We are looking for a motivated Data Architect who can translate business requirements into scalable, secure data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Model best practice for data across the organisation.
- Embed a data‑led culture at the heart of the business.
- Operate as a Data Solutions Architect, driving design and implementation of data strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the UK and Group to learn and influence.
- Translate business needs into robust, effective solutions across domains and teams.
- Develop and maintain reference architecture to optimise ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, reporting and data science.
- Support the CDO and Data Strategy Lead in the rollout of the UK Data Strategy and roadmap implementation.
- Facilitate timely, accessible and trusted data for customers, viewed as a genuine asset.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, providing technical guidance to delivery teams and upskilling business data teams.
- Own governance around data: metadata, reference data, and other architectural artefacts.
- Keep up to date with tools, frameworks and emerging trends across data and insurance and incorporate them where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a data role, e.g., data engineer, data scientist, data analyst, data architect or data modeller.
- Passion for shaping data ecosystems and driving high‑impact solutions.
- Direct experience with cloud data technologies (Snowflake, AWS, Azure) highly valuable; background in SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, NoSQL, Oracle or Hadoop also welcome.
- In‑depth knowledge of database structures, data analysis and data mining.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, ETL/ELT processes and big data technologies.
- Proficiency in data modelling and product design, plus associated development, ETL and visualisation tools.
- Familiarity with data management, governance and compliance/security.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a curious, critical mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present data stories at all organisational levels.
- Experience in developing target states and roadmaps to reach them.
- Practical, hands‑on experience in large organisations and a desire to continually learn.
