Managing Director – Freight Forwarding (Air & Ocean Freight)

Location: Rotterdam or Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Salary: €100k - €130k + Benefits + Bonus

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Managing Director to lead the launch of a mid-Size freight forwarder who is looking to start-up specializing in air and ocean freight, based in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic chance to take full ownership of the company’s operations, including P&L responsibility, and build your own team from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the start-up’s operations in the Netherlands.


• Full P&L responsibility for the business.


• Develop and implement strategies to grow market presence and profitability in the air and ocean freight sectors.


• Build, manage, and motivate a high-performing team.


• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and partners.


• Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of the team to ensure long-term success.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in freight forwarding, with a strong understanding of air and ocean freight operations.


• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.


• In-depth knowledge of the Netherlands freight market is a plus.


• Exceptional business acumen and experience managing P&L.


• Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and take initiative to drive growth.


• Fluent in English (Dutch language skills are a plus but not required).
