Role Overview This role provides dedicated functional and hierarchical leadership for the Booking Fintech Products organization by leading the discovery of large strategic cross‑company & cross‑Fintech Product programmes, with the initial focus being BHFS. The role is responsible for setting the Product Strategy for FP‑wide programmes based on thorough discovery and deep technical understanding of the payment context, as well as driving cross‑area implementation/execution. This directly contributes to company results by ensuring the most successful approach and execution of major business initiatives, starting with the single most important objective to secure the company’s financial compliance: BHFS.
Key Responsibilities - The role is focused on product discovery across Fintech (Product)/ company in an environment with significantly high levels of complexity and risks
- Manages the end‑to‑end delivery of the product vision, in line with company objectives and priorities, to ensure the successful approach and execution of critical business initiatives
- Manages relationships with senior executives/leaders across Finance and FinTech, through frequent strategic alignment and persuasion, in order to collectively define, decide and execute the strategy for the company’s strategic programmes
- Responsible for maintaining a prioritisation framework that facilitates transparent and simple decision‑making on priorities and sequencing to maximise impact on customer needs, product quality, business value while balancing technical feasibility
- Hold ultimate decision rights and accountability on process and content‑driven choices regarding the cross‑area programmes to ensure velocity and clarity, both in discovery as well as in execution
- Functionally lead multiple tracks (3 or 4 tracks) within different areas in Fintech Product to align on programme approach, execution of work and manage dependencies. Build road‑maps, define success metrics for the cross‑area initiatives, and track them on a regular basis to ensure that all projects and existing functionality are moving towards our defined goals
- Serves as single point of contact both within the FP organisation as well as for the broader Booking organisation for the defined strategic programmes
Requirements Of Special Knowledge/skills - Product leadership: Significant years (12+) of Product leadership experience within high‑traffic sites (100 000+ visitors per day), preferably global e‑commerce or marketplace companies
- Fintech Experience: Subject matter expertise in the Fintech industry is a MUST (minimum 5 years), market, trends, PSPs, solutions specifically on the consumer or partner payments aspect of the industry, from the UX to the mechanics of global acquiring and money movements
- Senior management alignment: Proven experience with business senior management alignment and collaboration across different BUs and locations, Including payments compliance, payments fraud, payments legal team
- Expert Regulatory Analysis: Understand payment regulation (e.g., PSD2, specific country mandates) and analyse its complex impact on Booking.com’s business model and operations
- Expert Problem Solver – ability to identify and analyse complex issues in the field of Payments, systems and regulation, by applying structured (data) analysis, diagnose problems, and recommend effective action plans to resolve issues
- Expert in Fintech Product Discovery – ability to lead and execute comprehensive product discovery processes in the area of payments, including market research, user needs analysis, competitive landscape assessment and technical feasibility studies, to identify new opportunities and define the right product strategies
- Expert in influencing – ability to respectfully, honestly and sensitively persuade others across all levels of the business to get involved with or take the preferred view of an objective, solution or other initiative, by using storytelling techniques and applying emotional intelligence, adapting the approach according to personality type and preferred working style
- Expert communication skills – being able to communicate efficiently both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from senior leadership to individual project members
- Being able to write clear and concise product requirements, status updates and product results
- Strong organisational and project management skills – someone with responsibility to ensure large complex programmes are completed in an appropriate and timely manner
- Results driven – ability to thrive and work in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment with multiple responsibilities
- Mentoring, coaching and leadership experience
