Assistant Financial Controller

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 3+ years experience in the area
• Proficiency with current financial software

As a Financial Accountant, you ensure that all financial data is accurate, timely, and complete. Your work directly supports the reliability of the company’s financial information. In this role, you will be closely involved in periodic closings, financial reporting, and compliance activities, with particular attention to subscription-based revenue models and applicable accounting standards.

What your day might look like

• Handle and verify entries in the general ledger.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Prepare reconciliations and generate financial statements.
• Oversee intercompany transactions, banking activities, and both accounts receivable and payable.
• Apply appropriate revenue recognition rules for subscription services and contractual arrangements.
• Review and improve invoicing workflows and collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate revenue treatment.
• Support both internal reviews and external audits.
• Identify opportunities to optimize and automate financial processes using relevant tools and platforms.
• Work with the finance lead on budgeting, forecasting, and performance metrics.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong command of English; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
• 3–5 years of experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a technology or subscription-based business.
• Hands-on experience with monthly and annual closings and local GAAP requirements.
• Familiarity with tax regulations relevant to the regions where the company operates.
• Understanding of subscription revenue, deferred income, and key SaaS metrics (ARR/MRR) is highly valued.
• Comfortable working with accounting software, ERP systems, and related financial tools.
