About The Role Senior Construction Manager – Battery Energy Storage (BESS) A leading European independent energy-storage provider is scaling large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe to accelerate the energy transition. With operations across multiple European hubs, the organisation is driving grid stability, renewable integration, and sustainable energy optimisation through advanced storage and intelligent energy management technologies. As Senior Construction Manager, you will oversee the full construction lifecycle of large-scale BESS projects (>100 MW each; >6 GW pipeline in NL). You will ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant project delivery while representing the asset owner to suppliers, contractors, grid operators, and local stakeholders. This is a high-impact leadership role central to the build-out of Europe’s next-generation energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver BESS construction on time, on budget, and to specification.
Oversee all construction-related project disciplines, including planning, interface management, HSSE, QA/QC, risk, and permitting.
Act as the primary representative to EPCs, contractors, suppliers, grid operators, and local authorities.
Manage supplier and subcontractor performance, ensuring alignment with technical and contractual requirements.
Collaborate closely with finance, contract management, commissioning, and engineering teams across the project lifecycle.
Work primarily from Amsterdam with regular on-site presence across project locations in the Netherlands.
Candidate Profile
15+ years of experience delivering complex construction or energy infrastructure projects, with 7+ years as Project Manager in the renewable energy or power sector.
