Head of Development

Acre is proudly working with a renewable energy investor and developer to appoint a Head of Project Development, to be based in Utrecht, Netherlands.

As part of the Management Team, you will have overall responsibility to build and execute a strong, sustainable development pipeline with discipline and governance for the Company. You will also be able to leverage your leadership skills and manage and coach a talented team of project developers in this role.

Your portfolio would entail a mix of solar, hybrid, and BESS projects.

To be successful in this role, you must be a fluent Dutch speaker.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and execute the multi-year origination & development strategy for PV, BESS, and Wind.
• Continuously monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments, evaluate their implications for project development, and proactively integrate these insights into the optimisation and prioritisation of the project pipeline.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Origination and Development.
• Raise professional standards on permitting, land acquisition, contracting, market analysis, project structuring, and stakeholder management.

What You'll Bring

• Extensive experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or related sectors in the Netherlands.
• Proven success in origination and project development (core requirement).
• Experience in building and managing high-performing teams of specialists (you must have direct team/line management experience).
• Strong understanding of Dutch permitting, regulatory frameworks, stakeholder processes, and grid access dynamics. Experience operating in grid-constrained markets.
• Fluent in Dutch (native preferred) and English.
