Role Overview - Senior Business Development Manager Ocean Freight
In this role, you will independently acquire and develop strategic SME customers, acting as a knowledgeable partner who translates commercial opportunities into sustainable sea freight solutions.
Responsibilities
- Acquire, manage, and grow strategic customers with a strong focus on Ocean Freight.
- Advise on complex sea freight topics: trade lanes, equipment, Incoterms, supply chain optimization.
- Identify market developments and convert them into opportunities.
- Build long-term relationships at decision‑maker level.
- Drive cross‑sell and up‑sell across the full DGF portfolio.
- Maintain a strong sales pipeline and deliver on KPIs.
- Collaborate closely with Pricing, Operations, and Product teams.
- Ensure excellent service and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's level capability (HBO) and 5+ years in freight forwarding.
- Proven success in Ocean Freight new business development.
- Strong knowledge of sea freight processes, trade lanes, and pricing.
- Skilled in CRM and structured pipeline management.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
