AIWerkplek develops a sovereign AI platform for organizations that work with sensitive data and strict regulatory requirements. We enable AI adoption without reliance on hyperscalers or public AI platforms, giving customers full control over their data, models, and knowledge. Our platform is already live in highly regulated sectors such as legal services and is expanding into healthcare and other compliance‑driven domains.
We are a product‑focused startup with a strong engineering culture. We don’t build proofs of concept—we build robust, production‑grade AI systems that professionals depend on daily. Technology directly shapes how our users work, and engineering quality is central to everything we do.
What Does AIWerkplek Offer You?
You’ll join a small, ambitious, and highly technical team where ownership is real—not just a buzzword. We work closely together from our office in Leusden, with short feedback loops and a strong preference for hands‑on collaboration.
You will:
- Have direct influence on architecture and implementation
- Work on real production systems used in regulated environments
- Shape the long‑term technical direction of the platform while still coding and building
- Receive a competitive salary, strong employment conditions, a solid pension plan, and optional benefits
We invest in sustainable growth, both of the platform and the engineers building it.
Your Role
As a Technical Architect AI, you combine architectural ownership with hands‑on engineering. You don’t just design systems—you help build, test, and evolve them.
You work on a multi‑tenant AI platform where:
- Data isolation and tenant separation are non‑negotiable
- Security, privacy, and compliance are core design constraints
- Scalability, observability, and performance matter in real‑world usage
Your responsibilities include:
- Designing and evolving the core platform architecture
- Actively contributing code to backend services, AI pipelines, and infrastructure componentsMaking architectural decisions around Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and cloud‑native patterns
- Designing secure and compliant AI workflows within a sovereign cloud environment
- Reviewing and improving existing implementations for reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Working closely with engineers, external development teams, and consultants to translate architectural principles into working software
- Explaining and defending technical decisions—internally and occasionally to customers
This role requires you to move comfortably between whiteboard discussions and production code.
What Do You Bring?
You are a technically strong engineer who has grown into an architectural role and still enjoys building.
You bring:
- Several years of experience as a senior engineer, technical lead, or architect
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud‑native systems
- Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and modern backend architectures
- Affinity with AI systems, ML pipelines, or AI‑enabled platforms (hands‑on experience is a strong plus)
- Solid understanding of multi‑tenant architectures, data separation, and security
- Experience working with open‑source technologies
- The ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and take ownership of outcomes
- Strong communication skills—you can explain complex technical concepts clearly
- Fluency in Dutch and English
Your Team
You’ll work with a compact, multidisciplinary team of backend engineers, AI specialists, business consultants, and external development partners. The team values:
- Clear technical principles
- Shared responsibility
- Pragmatic problem‑solving over overengineering
Together, you shape everything from architectural standards and technical roadmaps to hands‑on implementations running in production.
