Head of Software

That’s why we’re looking for a Head of Software who can build, lead and raise the bar on both output and team performance.

Your role: build the team, deliver the results

As Head of Software, you are responsible for the performance of our software teams. Not just delivery but how the team operates, improves and scales. You make sure that:

• the right people are in the right roles
• the team delivers consistently and reliably
• performance is actively managed and improved

You work closely with the CTO and leadership team, and translate company goals into clear execution and measurable results.

This role is designed as a growth position, with the opportunity to grow into full ownership of the software organization as we scale.

What you will do

Build a high-performance team

• Define roles and hiring needs
• Hire and shape the software team as we scale, Run role intakes and interviews
• Set clear expectations on performance and ownership
• Actively manage performance and give direct feedback
• Coach team members and develop future leaders
• Address underperformance early and structurally

Lead software delivery

• Own delivery of the software roadmap
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and at high quality
• Lead releases and take responsibility for what goes live
• Act as final checkpoint before deployments

Create structure and accountability

• Define how the team works (process, ownership, priorities)
• Ensure clarity on:
  • who owns what
  • what success looks like
  • Continuously improve team effectiveness and output

Manage budget and resources

• Own part of the engineering budget
• Make trade-offs between:
  • speed vs cost
  • internal vs external capacity
• Ensure resources are used effectively

Oversee software execution across domains

You are responsible for execution across:

• Customer product (webapp, native app, website)
• Internal systems (automations, tools, integrations, internal app)
• Device control software
• Data pipelines and availability

You ensure systems:

• run reliably
• work together seamlessly
• continuously improve

Ensure quality and stability

• Maintain high standards for code, testing and deployment
• Ensure stable releases with minimal bugs
• Act quickly on issues and improve structural weaknesses

Work across the company

• Collaborate with:
  • CTO (technical direction)
  • Other teams (operations, sales, marketing)
• Ensure software supports both customer experience and internal efficiency

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience in software development (backend / full-stack preferred)
• Experience leading teams in a fast-growing or scaling environment
• Proven track record of building high-performance teams
• Comfortable making decisions on people, priorities and trade-offs
• Strong ownership mindset: you take responsibility for outcomes
