Head of Technology

We are looking for a Head of Technology on behalf of one of our clients — a fast-growing SaaS scale-up with European ambitions. Not a manager who oversees from a distance, but a hands‑on technology leader who builds alongside the team and sets the technical direction with conviction.

Location: Zoetermeer | 32–40 hrs/week | Hybrid | €120,000+

Our client

Our client is a data‑driven SaaS scale‑up in an exciting growth phase. Their platform is continuously evolving, with AI playing an increasingly central role in how data is managed and scaled across Europe. This is a place where technology is core to the product — and where the right leader can leave a real mark.

The role

This is a 50/50 role: half builder, half leader. You are equally comfortable whiteboarding a new architecture with your team as you are presenting the technology roadmap to the board. You don't just manage the backlog — you shape it. You don't just hire engineers — you grow them.

You will lead a team of approximately 10 people and work closely with the business, clients, and vendors. But what sets this role apart is the expectation that you roll up your sleeves: you help make technical decisions, you contribute to solutions, and you create something together with your team.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Build, coach, and elevate a diverse technology team (~10 people) — as a true player‑coach;
• Actively contribute to technical decision‑making: architecture, cloud strategy, tooling choices;
• Drive the adoption of AI within data management workflows to improve quality and scalability;
• Design and execute a roadmap for European scalability of the platform;
• Shape the overall technology ecosystem and make it future‑proof;
• Own release planning, platform stability, and engineering quality;
• Manage external vendors and technology partners;
• Translate client and business needs into technical priorities;
• Oversee security, compliance, and governance.

Your profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in software engineering or platform development — you have built things;
• Background in a product‑driven SaaS organisation — you understand what it means to ship;
• Several years of experience leading technical teams, with a coaching mindset;
• Strong opinions on cloud architecture, infrastructure, and scalability — and the experience to back them up;
• Affinity with or practical experience in AI and data management;
• Fluency in Dutch (both spoken and written) — required;
• Empathic and people‑driven: you bring out the best in individuals and in teams;
• Comfortable navigating vendors, business stakeholders, and clients alike;
• Bachelor's or Master's level in a relevant field.
