Mechanical Design Engineer


Are you looking for the right project where your skills in industrial or mechanical engineering can make the difference?Would you like to design and build the automated equipment we use in our production processes, and then see them working at a stone's throw from your desk?Our small but rapidly growing Automation Engineering team is looking for a fulltime colleague to join us at our European Headquarters to support the manufacturing of our advanced medical devices!In this exciting position, you will design and develop automated equipment used in our manufacturing plant in Amersfoort, supporting different teams including Production, Maintenance, and Engineering. You will work closely with our internal Automation Engineers based in the US, who will train you during the startup phase, and maintain a close collaboration with you throughout all the project phases.Where and WhenThis fulltime position is based in Amersfoort (NL)To allow collaboration with the colleagues in California (US), you will work on a flexible work schedule (between 8.00 and 21.00)During the design phase you can work from home 1 or 2 days a week, while the build, troubleshooting and testing phases will require you and the team to work from the office. Evening calls can always be done from homeKey ResponsibilitiesBe part of the automation and improvement of our manufacturing processes to produce medical devicesCreate SolidWorks models, drawings, and assembliesProvide technical support, carry out root cause analysis, and take corrective/preventive actionsPerform process capability studies, evaluations, and cost analysisDevelop, update, and review engineering documents such as instructions, drawings, test procedures, and reportsInvestigate new tooling, materials, prototypes, manufacturing processes, and technologiesResearch and qualify new suppliers/vendors, including setting the technical requirements including requirements settingsFollow internal and external trainings to ensure you follow safety and quality rules (e.g. CE, ISO, etc.)What you bringEngineering degree (HBO/HTS/BSc/MSc) within industrial, manufacturing or mechanical engineering, or equivalent engineering experienceExperience in a highly regulated environment with planning and coordinating machine design automation processesTechnical analytical skills combined with a hands-on approachUnderstanding of technical reasoning, prototyping, and manufacturing processesExperience in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks,AutoCAD or equivalentExperience with ERP, SAP, and/or Product LifecycleManagement applications is preferredExcellent in English both verbal and writtenWhat we offerAn international working environment, fueled by respect and a healthy work-life balance tailored to the business and team member’s needs27 paid vacation days (based on fulltime contract) with option to purchase five additional daysThis is mainly an on-site role with hybrid optionsCommuting allowance of €0,25/km or full coverage of public transportation costsA wide variety of internal trainings and development possibilities and a tuition program for external trainingsThe opportunity to pro-actively work on your vitality and fitnessState-of-the-art facilities, including green areas, in-house restaurant and gymAdditional benefits, such as:Attractive pension scheme (your contribution at 4%, ours at 12%)€50 net monthly health insurance contributionTwo (paid) days per year dedicated to volunteering activitiesSeveral fun company events and meaningful initiatives organized throughout the yearAt Applied Medical, we are committed to make a meaningful, positive difference, each and every day.
