Senior Technical Specialist


We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with deep, hands-on expertise in Oracle Exadata. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the full Exadata stack-compute, storage, networking, and database layers and is skilled in diagnosing, tuning, and optimizing performance across the platform. This role requires a proactive engineer who can own operational stability, drive performance improvements, and support mission-critical workloads running on Exadata.


Key Responsibilities



  • Administration & Operations

    • Manage and maintain Oracle 19c/21c databases running on Exadata platforms.

    • Perform routine Exadata compute and storage cell administration (CELLCLI, DCLI, cell configuration, patching, etc.).

    • Oversee backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations (RMAN, Data Guard, RAC).

    • Ensure platform stability, reliability, and adherence to best practices.



  • Performance Tuning & Optimization

    • Conduct deep performance analysis across SQL, database parameters, storage cells, and Exadata Smart features.

    • Utilize and tune Smart Scan, Smart Flash Cache, Storage Indexes, and Hybrid Columnar Compression.

    • Identify and resolve system bottlenecks across compute, network, and storage layers.



  • Diagnose complex issues spanning ASM, RAC, IORM, InfiniBand/RoCE networking, and storage cells.

  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term remediation solutions.

  • Work closely with engineering and application teams to resolve performance and availability incidents.

  • Upgrades, Patching & Lifecycle Management

    • Plan and execute patching of Exadata components (GI/DB homes, storage cells, IB switches).

    • Manage upgrades of database versions, cluster components, and firmware.

    • Maintain security compliance and configuration baselines.



  • Develop scripts and tooling (Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar) to automate operations.

  • Contribute to standard operating procedures, architecture documentation, and knowledge sharing.


Skill Requirements



  • 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience, including RAC, ASM, and Data Guard.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata in production environments.

  • Strong command of:

    • SQL tuning and execution plan analysis.

    • AWR/ASH/ADDM diagnostics.

    • Exadata storage management (CELLCLI, cell monitoring, flash cache tuning).

    • Resource management using IORM.



  • Solid understanding of:

    • Exadata networking (InfiniBand/RoCE).

    • Exadata patching methodologies (OPatch, dbaascli, onecommand).

    • Linux administration relevant to Exadata compute nodes.




Other Requirements


Nice-to-Have Qualifications



  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Exadata (ExaCS or ExaC@C).

  • Background in automation, CI/CD, or Infrastructure-as-Code.

  • Knowledge of performance tuning for high-throughput or low-latency systems.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as OEM, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar.
