We are working with an international technology business to appoint a Corporate Controller in the Netherlands. This is a Director-level appointment reporting to the CFO and sitting on the Finance Leadership Team, alongside the Director of FP&A. The role will own financial reporting, accounting policy, and internal controls, with a clear mandate to rebuild the Accounting function and establish the processes, systems, and governance needed to support the business through its next phase of growth and an exit. You will lead the Accounting team and work closely with the CFO, external auditors and wider business stakeholders to drive meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial close and reporting process, establishing a robust monthly timetable, balance sheet reconciliations and reliable consolidated group reporting across international entities
- Own the group accounting policy and lead the transition for the reporting requirements of a potential future exit
- Design and implement a comprehensive internal control framework, strengthening financial governance, segregation of duties and control testing
- Lead external audit and statutory reporting, improving audit readiness and reducing adjustments and repeat findings
- Act as the finance owner for ERP systems and drive process improvement, automation and the effective use of emerging technologies across Finance
- Oversee group tax compliance, treasury operations and statutory entity requirements
- Rebuild and develop the Accounting team, establishing clear ownership, documented processes and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Partner with the CFO, FP&A and wider leadership team on Board and investor reporting, financial due diligence and preparation for future strategic transactions
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with a strong technical accounting background
- Qualified Accountant (RA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent); Big Four audit experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP, with the ability to assess and defend complex accounting judgements
- Demonstrable experience building or transforming financial close processes, accounting policies and internal control frameworks
- Experience taking ownership of ERP systems and improving financial processes, reporting and automation
- Proven ability to lead a team through change, challenge existing processes and build a more effective Finance function
- Background in regulated manufacturing is beneficial but not essential; experience in other complex, international businesses will also be considered
- Fluent English; Dutch is not required
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance leader to take ownership of a significant transformation agenda, working directly with the CFO and wider Finance Leadership Team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a modern, scalable Finance function, strengthen the financial foundations of the business and play a central role in preparing the organisation for its next stage of development.
