Business Development Underwriter

In this role you drive profitable growth in AIG’s Financial Lines SME portfolio by combining underwriting expertise with a strong commercial mindset. You’ll strengthen broker relationships, develop new portfolio arrangements, and optimize existing ones in collaboration with distribution partners. You will contribute to growth targets and help improve service, products, and processes. This position offers cross-border exposure within a global insurer and opportunities to influence product development and market strategy.

• Expand AIG’s SME presence by developing accessible Financial Lines portfolio solutions
• Develop new portfolio arrangements and optimize existing ones
• Build and manage relationships with brokers and authorized agents to generate new business
• Contribute to portfolio growth targets and provide monthly management information (submissions, bind rate, premiums)
• Identify and implement best practices to improve service and offerings
• Support departmental product development within AIG guidelines
• Assess new and renewal business for your focus area
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and distribution partners to identify market opportunities

• Underwriting experience (minimum 3 years) in Financial Lines
• Good understanding of the Dutch Financial Lines marketplace and authorized agents marketplace
• Strong communication, networking and relationship-building skills
• Good organizational and time-management skills
