Category Buyer

As a Category Buyer at Huisman, you drive sourcing and procurement for key materials like steel forgings and plates, aligning with project needs and cost targets. You’ll work with Category Managers, engineering, and project teams to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and supplier performance. The role supports groundbreaking innovations and global projects in energy, wind, and civil sectors. • Source materials, components, and services critical to projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and high quality
• Develop and execute category procurement strategies focused on cost savings, quality improvement, and supplier performance
• Collaborate with Category Managers, Supply Chain Project Leads, Expeditors, engineering, and project management to ensure business continuity
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks; avoid problems by taking action with cross-functional teams
• Pursue optimal outcomes and challenge subpar solutions to maximise value
• Aim to deliver best value for money within assigned categories

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Nevi 1 or equivalent (or willingness to pursue training)
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar procurement role in a technical environment
• Experience with technical materials, preferably steel and forged products
• Ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and prioritize
• Fluent in English and Dutch (spoken and written)
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands
