Managing Consultant - Public Services - Defence

As a Managing Consultant in PA's Public Service and Defence team in the Netherlands, you will lead defence engagements and drive business development. You provide strategic guidance and oversee the delivery of innovative solutions, working with cross-border colleagues to scale knowledge and propositions in the Netherlands. You shape multi-domain initiatives, from policy to operations, and mentor teams while contributing to thought leadership. This role offers impact at scale in national security and public service transformation.

• Lead defence engagements and oversee project delivery from concept to implementation
• Provide strategic advice on defence policy, capability development, and operational efficiency
• Analyze client needs and design tailored solutions to address them
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement strategies, processes, and technologies
• Build and maintain relationships with key client stakeholders
• Stay informed on defence policy, technology, and threats and advise on implications
• Mentor junior consultants and support their development
• Develop commercially viable offerings and refine them for new markets, with PA teams
• Collaborate with international Go-To-Market and specialist teams to grow accounts
• Lead large-scale, complex projects and manage mixed client teams

• Bachelor degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum 10 years in defence industry, with preference for MOD/Armed Forces or management consulting
• Proven track record of leading engagements and delivering impactful results
• Deep understanding of defence policy, strategy, operations, and related frameworks
• Strong analytical skills to translate complex information into insights
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with diverse audiences
• Proven leadership and team management abilities
• Fluency in Dutch and English; other languages a plus
• Willingness to travel for client work
• Dutch nationality due to national security vetting
