Application Engineer II

As an Engineer II at Mollie, you will contribute to building scalable financial products that simplify payments and money management for businesses across Europe. You will work within a cross-functional team to design, develop, and own APIs and services that handle high transaction volumes. Your role bridges architecture, implementation, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver reliable, value-focused solutions. This is a hands-on opportunity to influence Mollie’s growth, new markets, and innovative products like Mollie Capital and in-person payments. • Design and build large-scale systems capable of handling high transaction volumes
• Develop, maintain, and improve APIs and services across engineering teams
• Lead technical initiatives from architecture to implementation with engineering excellence
• Troubleshoot and solve complex problems to advance financial workflows

• 5+ years of experience in developing large-scale applications
• Experience with PHP or Java (Go, C#, or Python also valued)
• Design experience for systems with queuing, caching, concurrency, fault tolerance, and scalability
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
