System Architect (R&D)

As System Architect (R&D), you define and safeguard the overall system architecture for bioprocessing products, translating customer and regulatory requirements into integrated design directions. You act as the technical compass across hardware, software, and mechanics, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions. You will shape architecture concepts, roadmaps, and risk mitigation while balancing performance, cost, and compliance. This role offers meaningful impact by connecting technology with customer value in a regulated, life-saving domain.

• Define and own the system architecture for new and existing products
• Translate customer needs and stakeholder expectations into functional and technical requirements for software, electronics, and mechanical systems
• Develop and communicate architecture concepts, interfaces, and technical roadmaps
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary project teams
• Balance trade-offs between performance, cost, reliability, manufacturability, compliance, and customer value
• Support system-level design reviews, requirements management, verification and validation activities
• Identify risks, dependencies, and architectural challenges early and define mitigation strategies
• Ensure alignment between R&D, project management, product management, quality, operations, and external partners
• Evaluate the impact of design changes throughout the product lifecycle
• Ensure architecture decisions are documented, traceable, and compliant with regulations and quality requirements
• Promote structured product development and continuous improvement within R&D

• Bachelor's or Master's in a technical discipline (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Applied Physics, Software Engineering)
• Minimum 5 years in product development, systems engineering, architecture, or similar
• Experience in multidisciplinary environments with hardware, software, and system integration
• Experience with requirements engineering, risk management, design reviews, and V&V processes
• Regulated environment experience is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of GMP principles and/or bioprocessing applications is preferred
• Ability to make complex trade-offs and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
