Manufacturing Engineer - Surface Treatment

In this role you will drive the implementation of materials and process methods for precision finishing—honing, grinding, polishing, and benchwork—through to production readiness. You will apply a strong process capability mindset using the ZDM tool suite to deliver repeatable, safe, high-quality surface finishing for landing gear components. You will support development and production integration, troubleshoot issues, and promote continuous improvement with Lean and safety at the forefront. This senior position sits at a multi-technology site in Papendrecht, contributing to mission-critical aerospace parts and the company’s standards of excellence.

• Implement materials and process methods from concept to production readiness (honing, grinding, polishing, benchwork)
• Deploy and sustain processes with high process capability using ZDM tools
• Provide technical support for manufacturing development and production integration, including troubleshooting
• Act as SME in precision finishing and bench operations to improve efficiency, quality, and surface integrity
• Develop technical solutions for complex problems with a safety-first mindset and regulatory compliance
• Support manufacturing development and integration through technical guidance
• Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce non-conformances
• Deliver metrics-driven results aligned with Operational & Program goals
• Maintain strong relationships with internal/external customers and co-workers
• Continuously improve production processes via Lean initiatives

• 5+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in aerospace
• Knowledge of surface finishing techniques (honing, grinding, polishing, benchwork) in safety‑critical environments
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Ability to influence and collaborate within a global organization
• Proactive, flexible, process-oriented
• LEAN knowledge and practice
• Familiarity with ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000 quality systems
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
