Taper is a fast-growing fintech organisation that supports international businesses with currency transactions, payments and trade finance. We combine technology with in-depth expertise in Lending, FX, Payments and Trade Finance (DB). We do this with an entrepreneurial, hands‑on, no‑nonsense approach. In doing so, we aim to significantly reduce the administrative burden in the trade process. This is only possible when we enter into long‑term partnerships with our clients.

To enable our next phase of growth, we are looking for a CFO who, alongside the finance organisation, also helps build the operational organisation. The CFO brings structure and helps the organisation professionalise further. A financial leader with an entrepreneurial mindset who knows how to combine strategy and execution.

The role

As CFO you hold a key position within Taper and are part of the management team. You work closely with the CEO and have a direct influence on the further professionalisation, growth and positioning of the organisation.

You have full responsibility for Taper's financial processes, performance and financial strategy. In doing so, you look beyond finance alone. You understand how technology, risk, compliance and operations come together within a modern fintech and know how to connect these areas.

You are responsible for building, leading and further developing a strong Finance team. You are also responsible for further building the Risk and Tech teams and play an active role in professionalising the operational organisation. In this hands‑on leadership role you combine strategic insight with operational execution. You set up and implement the core financial processes, reporting structures and internal controls to create a solid foundation for further growth. Together with teams across the organisation, you ensure scalable processes, strong governance and results‑driven execution.

We are explicitly not looking for a traditional corporate CFO, but for a focused builder with financial, technological and operational depth. Someone who feels at home in a growing organisation, takes ownership and is keen to contribute to the next phase of professionalisation.

What will you do?

The role goes beyond Finance alone. As CFO you share responsibility for further developing the Risk, Operations and Tech platform domains. You help make the organisation scalable, bring focus and structure where needed and ensure that strategy is translated into concrete results.

You are responsible for:

• The financial and operational management of Taper.
• Building and developing strong teams within Finance, Risk, Operations and Tech.
• Creating scalable processes, systems and governance.
• Financial planning, cash flow management, financing structures and investor reporting.
• Risk & Compliance within a regulated environment.
• Translating strategy into execution and measurable results.
• Creating structure without losing innovation and growth.

Who are we looking for?

• A bachelor's or master's level of thinking and working (HBO+ or WO) in Finance, Accountancy, Business Economics or similar.
• At least 8 years of experience in senior roles with ultimate financial responsibility.
• Experience in regulated financial services, fintech or a comparable environment.
• Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Proven experience with financial risk management.
• Experience with Risk & Compliance.
• Knowledge of financial products and financing structures.
• Strong affinity with technology, innovation and digitalisation.
• Experience in a growing organisation where professionalisation was central.
• Experience with DNB (De Nederlandsche Bank) is a plus.
