Head of Global Facilities

Head of Global Facilities

Power our global growth by building the spaces where innovation thrives.

Full‑time

Location: Rotterdam

About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast‑growing scale‑up high‑tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enable our customers—the world’s leading chipmakers—to increase the production yields, and thus the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 320 employees) in science and technology and develop a one‑of‑a‑kind, revolutionary high throughput scanning probe microscopy system.

Where will you be working?

With a team of eight facility professionals at your side, you’ll steer the strategic and day‑to‑day decisions that make our global spaces smarter, more efficient, and perfectly aligned with the needs of a high‑tech scale‑up.

What will you be doing?

The Head of Global Facilities oversees the maintenance, operations, and overall functionality of our organization’s facilities across multiple locations in Rotterdam, South Korea, USA, Singapore and our future locations. This role ensures that all physical workplaces, including offices, laboratories and production locations (cleanrooms) are well‑maintained, safe, and conducive to productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance and Operations: managing all aspects of facility maintenance, including repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Safety and Security: ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and security measures.
  • Space Management: optimizing the use of physical space to support business operations and employee needs, including workspace planning and layout design.
  • Budget Management: developing and managing budgets for facility operations and maintenance, ensuring cost‑effective solutions.
  • Vendor Management: overseeing relationships with vendors for services such as cleaning, security, and maintenance.
  • Compliance: ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to facility management.
  • Sustainability: implementing sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy consumption.
  • Strategic Planning: developing long‑term facility management strategies to support the organization’s overall goals and objectives.

Why is the position interesting for you?

  • Lead with impact: take the reins of a global facility network across Europe, Asia, and the US, directly shaping the work environments that fuel next‑generation chip innovation.
  • Empower a growing team: manage and inspire a skilled team of eight facility professionals, driving strategic and operational excellence.
  • Build the future of tech infrastructure: from cleanrooms to cutting‑edge labs, optimize and future‑proof the spaces where breakthrough technology is born—sustainably, smartly, and globally.

What are we looking for?

A scale‑up can provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but can also be a hectic environment at times. You must fit in such a climate, not mind constantly implementing changes and process improvements, and go the extra mile on a regular basis. You should be comfortable with uncertainty.

We are looking for:

  • Education background at Bachelor or Master level in a relevant field, such as Facility Management or (Technical) Business Administration.
  • Extensive experience—at least 10 years—in facility management in an industrial (high‑tech) environment with a proven track record of managing multiple locations.
  • Leadership & Team Management: ability to lead, inspire, and develop a diverse team across different locations and cultures.
  • Strategic thinking: capable of aligning and implementing facility operations with long‑term business goals and global growth strategies.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: ability to build strong relationships across departments and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Knowledge of international regulations and standards.

What can you expect from us?

Getting on board now is a great opportunity to grow with the company from a technical, personal, and financial perspective. Nearfield’s momentum is energetic and promising!

We offer a fair and competitive salary and:

  • 30 holidays per calendar year (based on 40 hours).
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • Commuting allowance.
  • Discount on your health insurance.
  • Supportive workplace culture where colleagues help each other.
  • Challenging role that utilizes the full extent of your professional knowledge.
