Job Description

You will be working in a small team that currently consists of eight people. You will be working closely with the technical manager and project manager.
As Operations Superintendent you will be supporting the planning, preparation and coordination of Oceanteam’s subsea cable logistics operations—onshore and offshore—to ensure safe, timely and efficient execution aligned with client requirements, contracts and the Oceanteam management system. You will travel regularly with approximately 40 days p.a. In addition to operational ownership, the role provides hands-on technical supervision and yard support (equipment readiness, mobilization's/demobilizations, maintenance coordination of the equipment). Engineering tasks are supportive and applied to execution; the emphasis is operational delivery, asset readiness and QHSE leadership. Tasks
Operations leadership (primary):
• Plan, organize and supervise mobilizations, port calls and onshore supports for offshore executions; monitor progress, anticipate issues and drive timely solutions.
• Prepare and participate in client kick-off, safety, toolbox talks, operations and close-out meetings; act as day-to-day point of contact on contractual, commercial, technical and operational matters for assigned projects.
• Implement operational procedures and drawings with the execution teams; communicate status and risks clearly to all participants.
• Project management on site, during cable transpooling operations.
• Promote a strong safety culture across all offshore and onshore operations
• Encourage open reporting of incidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts or conditions. Technical & yard support (secondary / when projects are limited):
• Coordinate yard activities and equipment readiness (inspection, maintenance coordination, documentation) to support subsea cable storage, handling and transport scopes.
• Supervise safe (dis)assembly, repair and maintenance.
• Support operating/installation documentation and ensure procedures and drawings are current and usable by operations. Applied engineering (in service of operations):
• Translate client scope into executable methods and schedules; maintain documentation, plans, reports and procedures required for safe and efficient execution.
• Provide feasibility checks and proposal inputs during the sales phase, specifically for subsea cable logistics scopes.
Commercial, close-out & continuous improvement:
• Manage variation requests with clients; support accurate financial inputs for invoicing; drive technical close-out with lessons learned and improvement actions. Responsibility
Ensure operational execution meets contract scope, planning, budget and quality standards while safeguarding Oceanteam’s contractual interests.
• Deliver effective operations support to live projects and technical/yard support during lower project load, maintaining asset readiness for subsea cable logistics.
• Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company QHSE procedures
• Actively contribute to the company’s QHSE improvement objectives Authorizations
• Intervene in operational/technical processes as required to meet execution objectives.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority in case of severe QHSE concerns and escalate per procedure.
Education/background
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Offshore, Civil/Mechanical, Marine) or equivalent operational/technical background.
• Experience in offshore/marine operations and preference with exposure to subsea cable projects (logistics, storage, handling, transport) and operational management systems) and with proven international work experience.
• Proficiency with operational documentation and drawings; 2D/3D capability is advantageous and applied to execution rather than pure design.
Skills and Experience
• Strong operational coordination, stakeholder management and clear written/verbal communication with clients and internal teams.
• Hands-on, proactive and safety-led; able to switch between planning/coordination and site/yard supervision,
• Analytical, team-oriented, with willingness to travel and work internationally.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal What do we offer
