Your Next Opportunity Awaits – We are looking for a Sales Manager for Maasvlakte Rotterdam,
Responsibilities;
- Find and acquire new customers for import/export sea freight services, ensuring achievement of monthly and annual revenue targets.
- Promote TLS’s full range of sea freight solutions, including FCL/LCL, consolidation, cross-trade, door-to-door services, customs brokerage, and value-added logistics.
- Request competitive freight rates, local charges, THC, BAF, CAF, and capacities from carriers, co-loaders, and overseas agents to prepare optimized and profitable offers.
- Deliver accurate and timely quotations for sea freight inquiries received from customers and global forwarding partners.
- Schedule regular weekly alignment meetings with the sea freight sales & operations teams.
- Respond promptly to new inquiries from existing customers and international partners; provide proactive follow-up and status updates.
- Track all proposals submitted, monitor conversion ratios, and maintain an updated offer pipeline.
- Arrange customer visits (new & existing) to strengthen relationships and identify business opportunities.
- Conduct supplier visits (shipping lines, NVOCCs, co-loaders, trucking companies) to enhance cooperation, secure better rates, and reduce operational costs.
- Enter all customer, lead, opportunity, and quotation data accurately into the CRM system.
- Analyze market trends, trade lanes, and pricing developments to define target markets and propose new commercial strategies.
- Develop and implement weekly, monthly, and annual sales plans aligned with company growth targets.
- Manage and support a group of sea freight sales executives, including performance monitoring and skills development.
- Prepare detailed sales reports and participate in meetings, trade events, and networking activities arranged by the company.
- Ensure smooth handover of newly won businesses to the operations team with complete documentation and clear SOPs.
- Demonstrate adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and company standards.
- Participate in annual budget planning and work proactively to achieve realistic sales targets in line with team and organizational goals.
Requirements;
- Proven Sea Freight Sales experience (minimum 5 years) within forwarding, NVOCC, or ocean logistics.
- Strong understanding of customer needs in import/export ocean operations (FCL, LCL, customs procedures, documentation).
- Hands-on knowledge of the Dutch local market, including customer expectations and key trade lanes.
- Excellent understanding of ocean freight pricing, carrier negotiations, free time terms, and contract management.
- Experience in customer onboarding, SOP creation, and ensuring operational feasibility of won business.
- Ability to coach and guide the sales team toward higher performance and improved commercial skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a strong solution-oriented mindset.
- Good computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications and CRM tools.
- Fluency in Dutch and English is mandatory; additional languages are considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, ocean freight KPIs, and international shipping documentation is a plus.
