Alicat Scientific designs and manufactures high-quality, custom mass flow and pressure instruments used across hydrogen research, renewable energy, aerospace, biotech, semiconductors, and clean-air applications. Your Role

As an Application Engineer , you’ll be the technical link between Alicat and our customers across Europe. After a comprehensive training program, you will support universities, R&D groups, OEMs, and engineering teams with high-precision flow and pressure solutions.

This position includes a strong focus on helping customers integrate our instruments into their systems—so experience with industrial communication protocols is essential.

What your day may look like

  • Analyzing technical inquiries, support requests, and troubleshooting cases
  • Preparing quotes , processing order-related information , and handling administrative follow-up.
  • Guiding internal AEs through difficult industrial protocol-related issues
  • Performing hands-on testing and diagnostics in our European lab
  • Supporting customers by email, phone, video calls, or on-site visits
  • Helping distributors understand our products and resolving escalated cases
  • Creating training materials or running internal workshops
  • Collaborating with engineering teams in Europe and the US on technical topics
  • Assisting marketing with technical content or product updates

At the end of the day, you’ll know your expertise helped both customers and colleagues move forward with confidence.

Is This You?

You are someone who enjoys understanding how things work and helping others do the same. You are patient, thorough, and able to explain technical concepts clearly. You enjoy troubleshooting, and you take pride in getting to the root of an issue.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU/TCP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, CANopen, or OPC-UA)
  • At least two years of professional experience in technical support, instrumentation, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong English skills (C1 or above)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and/or instrumentation
  • A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of training or mentoring
  • Interest in mass flow, pressure control, fluid dynamics, or related fields
  • Experience in inside sales or customer-facing technical roles is a plus.
