Sr. Software Engineer – Delft, South Holland, Netherlands

Do you want to apply your software expertise to some of the most complex engineering challenges in the offshore industry? In Delft, we are developing advanced monitoring and automation systems that support large-scale mechanical operations at sea. We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer who can design robust architectures, develop algorithms that transform raw sensor data into real-time insights, and help commission these systems in demanding offshore environments.

Your Role:

You will lead software development projects from concept to deployment, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with system requirements. You will design and oversee software architecture for integrated monitoring systems, enabling real-time decision-making and automation.

Your main missions will be the following:

Software Development Leadership

• Lead end-to-end software development projects for engineering applications.

• Ensure alignment with system requirements and technical standards.

• Drive innovation and technical excellence across all phases of development.

System Architecture & Monitoring Solutions

• Design and oversee software architecture for integrated monitoring systems.

• Enable real-time decision-making and automation through robust system design.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration.

Algorithm & Data Processing Development

• Develop algorithms and processing logic to convert sensor data and simulations into actionable insights.

• Optimize performance and reliability of engineering applications.

• Contribute to process optimization and system efficiency.

Mentorship & Team Collaboration

• Mentor and support engineers, fostering a culture of quality and innovation.

• Encourage experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement as a lead.

• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver impactful solutions.

Requirements:

• Solid experience in programming and software architecture, with strong affinity for monitoring and automation of mechanical systems ; ideally 7+ years of experience.

• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Dutch is a plus.

• Team player with broad interest in technology, strong communication skills.

• Proficiency in (some of) Python , Go , SQL , C / C++ .

• Solid grasp of DevOps practices ( CI/CD , Docker , Kubernetes , GitLab ).

• Experience developing engineering and simulation tools for physical systems or process optimization.

• Willingness to occasionally work offshore to support system commissioning and testing.
