My client is seeking a capable, self-starting Infrastructure professional to take ownership of the group’s Infrastructure and Cloud roadmap, with a strong focus on integration within a fast-paced, Private Equity-backed, and highly acquisitive environment.
The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for decisions and execution. Working across an international landscape, the Head of Infrastructure & Cloud will help shape direction, lead infrastructure integration for newly acquired businesses, and drive the continued evolution of the group’s Microsoft and Cloud ecosystem.
The role blends strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on mindset, requiring someone who is comfortable engaging directly with real operational challenges as well as contributing at a more senior, stakeholder-facing level.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious infrastructure leader to increase their scope, influence outcomes in a dynamic and industry renowned business, and play a central role in scaling technology capability through growth and acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Ownership & Direction
- Own and deliver the group infrastructure roadmap across all business units, balancing long-term direction with near-term execution.
- Contribute to the evolution of the group’s Azure Cloud and Microsoft ecosystem in line with business growth and M&A activity.
- Ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, and fit for purpose in a growing, acquisition-led organisation.
M&A Integration
- Lead infrastructure and cloud integration for newly acquired businesses, aligning them pragmatically to group standards.
- Drive onboarding and transition activity, prioritising speed, stability, and commercial reality.
- Act as a key point of contact for the Group’s global service management partner and core infrastructure vendors.
- Operate effectively within a large virtual IT network of approximately 190–200 IT professionals across Europe and the US, influencing outcomes without direct line management.
- Hold partners and providers to account, driving performance, improvement, and delivery rather than deferring responsibility.
Operational Oversight
- Maintain hands-on awareness to engage meaningfully with tooling, vendors, and recommendations across the Microsoft stack.
- Review and act on Microsoft 365 and security recommendations where appropriate, challenging proposals and assumptions when required.
- Apply sound judgement and ensure solutions remain commercially sensible.
- Operate with confidence and autonomy, bringing clear decisions, options, and pathways forward rather than seeking continuous validation.
- Take full ownership of outcomes, acting with the mindset of someone running their own area of the business.
- Engage directly with teams, partners, and systems when needed.
Candidate Profile Working Style & Culture
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, lean, and high-expectations environment.
- Confident, resilient, and self-directed, with the judgement to act independently and the maturity to escalate when genuinely necessary.
- Able to directly influence senior stakeholders and teams.
- Willing to get involved at ground level to understand how things actually work, not just how they are documented.
Experience & Competencies
- Experience in environments characterised by high levels of ownership, pace, and acquisition-driven change (including Private Equity–backed businesses) would be beneficial.
- Background in infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, or a similar hybrid role.
- Suited to candidates ready to step up into broader ownership and group-level responsibility.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Microsoft 365
- Core infrastructure and networking fundamentals
Not required to be an engineering specialist, but technically credible and confident enough to challenge.
